Lead was once used in a wide variety of products, including interior and exterior paint in commercial and residential buildings. Van Isle Paint provides certified-professional lead sampling and lead removal services for projects where lead paint is suspected.

You have many options for reducing lead hazards. In most cases, lead-based paint in good condition is not a hazard. Deteriorating paint has the potential to contaminate soil, and removing lead-based paint without the proper procedures in place increases the risk.

Minimize the risk of lead poisoning:

Safety and ensuring a zero footprint are our top priorities. Our projects adhere to Van Isle Paint’s Occupational Health and Safety Policy, as well as Van Isle Paint’s Exposure Control: Asbestos, Silica, Lead, and Dust Policy.
We isolate the work area by sealing doorways and vents with commercial-grade plastic sheeting and tape to prevent the spread of scrapings, chips, and paint particles throughout your project.
Prior to commencing application, we ensure the room is well-ventilated with an industrial-grade fan. The stripper is applied on the areas closest to the fan and we work our way outward. We remove all temporary furnishings from the work area and use plastic sheets to seal permanent fixtures.
We wear pro-shield approved jumpsuits, goggles, gloves, and respirators throughout the application and use a chemical paint stripper paste, applied simply with a brush.
We do not use sanders, heat guns, or blow-lamps to remove lead-based paint, as this creates toxic dust and fumes with lead.
We clean the work area thoroughly at the end of each day and utilize a certified HEPA filtered vacuum. We put paint scrapings and chips in a sealed container marked as “Hazardous Waste” and dispose of it according to the instructions provided by our local municipality.
